Poinsettias for Cause

This year we are joining forces with Peppers Ranch here in Oklahoma City to “break the Cycle” for Foster Children in Oklahoma. At Morrison’s we are known for growing our own poinsettias and the quality is outstanding. We felt that by joining with Peppers Ranch that we could somehow make a difference in a foster child’s life. If you’re not familiar with Peppers Ranch then here is a little bit about them.

The ultimate goal of Peppers Ranch's Foster Care Community is to become home to as many of Oklahoma's abused and neglected children as possible. These children, through no fault of their own, have been victimized by the very people who were supposed to love and protect them. By providing the necessary resources and services to foster parents, we sustain a commitment to the children in their care. And, our safe and nurturing community will inspire and equip each child to break the cycle, reach their full potential, and become productive citizens of society.

For more information on Peppers Ranch visit their website at www.peppersranch.com

So every time you order your poinsettia’s this year mention Peppers Ranch to your order taker and we will donate a portion of the sale of each poinsettia to them. We invite you to also join us in helping the foster children of Oklahoma and donate to Peppers Ranch they have an excellent cause.

Here at Morrison’s we have all sizes, prices and colors of Poinsettias this year. We have over 20,000 sq. feet of greenhouses full of Poinsettias. So order one today.

We hope that you and your family have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and a Beautiful Holiday.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Our Sweet Mothers…

This Sunday being Mother’s Day, what are your plans for mom’s special day?    Some are close, some mom’s live some distance away and some mothers are no longer with us. We honor them all by keeping and treasuring our memories of our mom’s.

Being a florist we hope you will be sending her a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers or some other equally wonderful choice being offered by your local florist.  We understand some people don't feel that flowers last long enough, but are stance is that you will be creating a lasting memory for your Mom that will be a treasure to her.  She will be honored by such a beautiful & thoughtful gift.

Our greenhouses are full of beautiful blooming bedding and tropical plants.  Choosing a colorful patio planter will allow your mother to show off her front porch or patio when friends or family visit.  She will be telling everyone what a wonderful son or daughter I have.  Mom’s like to brag about their children.

Another thought for your mom might be to plant or create her a beautiful garden.  Our plants are the best in town and our prices can’t be beat.

As for those of you who have mother’s living outside our delivery area, allow us to send your order to another florist whom we trust.  Avoid Bargain Internet Orders!  Often times they are not a Bargain and may never be delivered.  When you use a florist you will pay a little bit more but at the same time you will get something far more superior.

As your local florist, we can call ahead to know what the other florist is offering that is both beautiful & unique.   Allow us to serve you in this matter so you can avoid any disappointments.

Morrison Floral Co. has been serving the local Oklahoma City Metro now for over 65 years. We are a full service florist and greenhouse. We strive to go a step above in our service and our quality.  Our hours are 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday thru Saturday.  We are happy to take your order over the phone and you are always welcome to stop in and pick out something from our shop.  We carry full lines of giftware, including candles, aprons, silk flowers, home décor, pottery, glassware and much more.

In any case, we hope that when you are thinking of Mom this year that you will call Morrison’s for your floral needs. Order her something special Today!!!

To Every Mother, Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Clever Container Gardens...

Some Clever Container Ideas…

So with spring here and everyone is in the mood for planting their gardens, I thought that I would share with you some clever ideas for container gardens. This year I opted not to plant but just a few things in the ground. I chose to do my gardening in containers.

What I did is scoured estate sales and yard sales for different containers to plant in, I didn’t spend more than three dollars for each container. My favorite one is a large urn that had a broken edge on one side and I really didn’t care that it was broken since the plants will cover it plus I only paid a dollar for it! Woo Hoo love me a bargain…

Since I love dark red, I painted everything a deep red then went over it with a lite coat of black to make it look aged, a couple of things I used I got for free. My next project is the brick wall space between my front windows. I want to find a small wooden pallet and hang it on the wall space and do my additional plants between the slats.

Of course, I bought all my plants here at Morrison’s, since we have some of the best quality plants in town! I know, I have been out and looked at some of the big box stores and seen what they are selling. The thing about what we do here is, we receive our plants in late January, then we tend to them every day, watering, fertilizing and just basic maintaining till they are ready for sale in mid-April.

With the weather acting as it has over the last month most people have been holding off on planting their gardens till now, so when you are ready to buy all your plants go check out the competition and see what they are selling, then compare to what we are selling and I know that you will see the difference.

Too everyone! Happy gardening and remember to share your garden photos with us here at Morrison’s, we love to see what you have done, we will post thaat you share with us on our Facebook page… Just email us your pictures.

Thanks,
Jac

Yes I have a 5 foot pink Flamingo in my front yard.. LOL
The large urn is my favorite container.

Just a selection of containers

This is what I am going to do on my brick wall

This is a cool idea too for your front porch.

How about old boots and shoes?

I love the use of the old makeup case. The reflection of
the plants is cool

I am sure that you can come up with some clever ideas yourself. So go out hunting for different and unusual things to use this year…

The Perfect Time of the year...

Ahhh Spring is here… It is that time of the year for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. With these holidays here we are not only celebrating the joy of Easter but we are very busy in the flower shop. We have so many orders for beautiful Easter arrangements, palm arrangements, palm leaves and the wonderful smell of Easter Lily’s.

Our greenhouse is bursting full of blooming plants and they are all ready for you to pick up and plant in your gardens. We have many new varieties of plants this year and 20 different colors and varieties of geraniums alone. Now is the perfect time to plant. With the weather finally turning around and that bitterly, nasty cold winter we had, we can’t wait to get outside and start planting our own gardens.

Now is also the time to start your ideas for the kiddo’s in your life, may they be your own children or your grandchildren. So after you spend an extraordinary time at church rejoicing in Easter Sunday, we have gathered some additional ideas about Easter egg hunts and while you’re at it why don’t you plan something for the adults this year?

We have gathered several ideas for you, to keep the kids and adults active on Sunday. For starters, for the children here’s a great idea. Instead of just coloring plain eggs, why don’t you get some the plastic eggs and not only fill them with candies, but also put little rewards inside so that the children have something to last all year long. Give them, points that they can redeem on a special toy they want, or maybe it’s something to use during the hot summer like a “summer splash” at a theme park. These are just a couple of ideas and you can expand on them with whatever you choose.

As for the adults, have a scavenger hunt. This can be a lot of fun and entertaining; you can either create your own clues or find them online. Plan this around your home, in a park or anywhere that you have extra space to spread out.

The clues can be as simple as where does the postman leave mail? Sounds silly but it’s just an idea. Here’s another one, if you’re on your own property get everyone to use the GPS in their cell phones to hunt for where clues are and to where the next clue is located. You can come up with your own ideas. Make the final prize something special like extra cash, or a box filled with candy, and or maybe tickets to a concert, use your imagination…

With these ideas you can expand on them and make them your own. Back to our shop, we have several spring wreaths to decorate your front door, we also custom make them for you, we have beautiful spring arrangements to liven up your indoors and lots of other Easter goodies.

Remember to stop in soon and pick up your spring bedding plants, we have over 30,000 sq feet of greenhouses with lots to pick from and you won’t bet the prices or quality of products that you would get at your local “big box store” our’ plants are tended daily by professional horticulturist, these horticulturist are always here to answer any of your questions you have about plants, planting or anything else pertaining your garden.

We look forward to seeing you soon…

All the Best,
Jac

The Wedding Of Elizabeth 'Libby' Andrew March 15, 2014

Libby is Getting Married!!!

Saturday is her big day and we are gearing up for the occasion getting all her wedding flowers ready and designed for her most Special Day…
Libby is getting married at the Oklahoma History Center in the Aerospace wing of the museum. Her reception is going to be in the main Atrium just under the amazing airplane. This is such a cool place to have a wedding. It is filled full of interesting artifacts and information on Oklahoma.

For her flowers she chose lavender roses, a deep red rose along with red spray roses, lavender stock flower, larkspur, green button mums, iris and blue hydrangeas.
For her bouquet she chose an elegant cascade that will flow gracefully in front of her amazing ivory wedding gown. Her bouquet will also have touches of green trick as just a touch of green.

The boutonnieres are green button mums along with a dark red spray rose. The corsages are roses, delphinium’s and berries. For a twist a male friend of hers will be her maid of honor and he is having a female friend of his as his groomsman.
She will be marring the love of her life Dusitn Scheller.

Her attendants are dressed in Marine Navy Blue and they will be carrying a simple nosegay in similar flowers to the bride’s flowers. The groomsmen will be dressed in Black suits with platinum accents.
For the centerpieces will have hand gathered bouquets that will be set in our House of Gram containers which are iron stands with bell glass containers on top. (I will show a pic in at the bottom). She is having three styles of centerpieces, using the bridesmaids bouquets as one the aisle bouquets as the second and the third centerpiece is in an iron glass in three heights with pillar candles and clusters of flowers.

We know that Libby is going to Love everything that we do and all the choices that she has made are spectacular. We wish her the very best on Libby's and Dustin's new journey in life….

All the Best,
Jac
